Herbs have traditionally been used in many cultures to treat ailments and promote well-being for thousands of years. The qualities in herbs work in synergy with the body’s own resources, taking from the herbs what is needed. Herbs take up nutrients from the earth and convert them into vitamins, minerals, carbohydrates, proteins and fats that our bodies use for nourishment and healing. By using the whole herb, we can benefit from all the vital ingredients they carry.

Herbs also:

* support the immune system to protect against disease

* regulate hormonal balance

* are rich in vitamins and minerals that nourish the body

* provide energy to support the body to heal itself

* promote the body’s good bacteria

Herbs work synergistically, so combining them enhances each herb’s properties, helping to bring greater healing to the body. For example, an excellent blend to help induce sleep combines Passionflower, Valerian and Hops, as in our Sleepytime Bliss and Lullaby Bliss teas. All three herbs have relaxant properties, but Passionflower in particularly good for inducing and enhancing the quality of sleep, Valerian relaxes muscle tension, and Hops calm the the nervous system.

Herbalist Hilde Hemmes writes, “Caring for yourself and your family by using herbal remedies is an empowering experience, allowing you to tap into the power of nature and to take a new sense of responsibility for your well-being.”
